Counseling Services
Paulina Blecker, MS, LMHC provides individual counseling for adults (18+ up) and groups experiencing a wide range of struggles. I do not provide couples therapy, at this time. I work from a holistic approach to address your health from an emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical perspective. Oftentimes a person seeks out counseling to address a specific issue but it can also assist you in discovering a new path in life, improving communication with those around you, or to gain a better understanding of yourself. I primarily utilize EMDR Therapy; if I feel like you might be a good candidate for this type of therapy, I will work with you to create a plan during the initial session. Some of the specific issues that I work with are listed below (which can also be targeted through EMDR). My areas of specialty are marked with ***:
ADHD/ADD
Addiction & Recovery
Anxiety and Stress*** (i.e. generalized anxiety, situational anxiety, social anxiety)
Codependency
Cultural Issues*** (i.e. first-generation problems, immigration/emigration, cultural identity)
Depression*** (could manifest as high-functioning depression)
Eating Disorders (i.e. anorexia, bullimia nervosa)
Grief*** (i.e. death, a breakup, a divorce, the loss of a pet)

Women’s Issues*** (i.e. infertility, balancing life demands, pregnancy, postpartum, etc.)
Limits of Confidentiality
What you say in session, stays in session...for the most part. This section highlights those times when confidentiality between a therapist and client can be broken. The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.
Exceptions include:
Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.
